Beijing's Olympic Venues Host Over 1,400 Sports Competitions in 2026

Beijing's network of Olympic-era venues and district facilities forms the backbone for a 2026 sports calendar that lists over 1,400 competitions and activities. The city's status as the world's first Dual Olympic City supplies the stadiums, tracks and fields required to stage 57 international events, 18 of them new to the capital.
The infrastructure matters now because demand for sports consumption is rising quickly and events must accommodate participants of every age. Organisers point to the existing stock of venues as the reason Beijing can add new international fixtures without major new construction.
National Olympic Sports Centre Stadium and central venues
The National Olympic Sports Centre Stadium hosted the Premier League's Next Gen Beijing Cup last month, the first time the youth tournament reached China. That same complex and nearby Olympic sites continue to draw events such as the Intel Extreme Masters Esports Tournament and the 2026 Beijing E-Town GT World Challenge set for October 2-4. These venues also support the 206 high-quality events listed under the Dual-Olympic 100 system.
District sites and mass-participation routes
Further out, the Beijing Daxing Half Marathon and the 10th Huahui Beijing Yuepao Daxing Half Marathon use roads and parks in Daxing district, where registration remains open for local runners. Youth events have already tested smaller venues: the 2026 Youth Martial Arts Tournament in Xicheng and Mentougou districts drew nearly 1,300 athletes, while the Happy Run International Youth and Family Sports Carnival in June brought nearly 600 participants from 33 embassies to local parks and fields.
These figures show the scale of use. The calendar's 1,400-plus events and 57 international fixtures rest on the same mix of central Olympic infrastructure and district routes that handled the 2025 programme of more than 1,280 events. Schools add further capacity through the Class Super League, which plans roughly 400,000 matches citywide.
